Making magic mushroom tea

·343 words·2 mins

Responding to a friend’s curiosity, I’m sharing my method for brewing tea from magic mushrooms. This technique aims to provide a more pleasant and manageable psychedelic experience.

Opting for tea over whole Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms circumvents the digestive discomfort associated with their fibrous composition and reduces the likelihood of nausea.

In my preparation, I use ground mushrooms to ensure a consistent brew. Given the variability in psilocybin content within Psilocybe cubensis, grinding the mushrooms helps achieve a uniform distribution of the psychoactive substance and enhances its extraction into the tea.

Additionally, I incorporate ’lemon tek’ by soaking the ground mushrooms in lemon juice before adding hot water. This step, thought to aid the conversion of psilocybin to psilocin, also imparts a pleasant flavour to the tea.

As with other psychedelics, it’s advisable to fast for 2-4 hours before consuming the tea. This practice ensures a smoother experience and further reduces the likelihood of nausea.

Preparation #

  1. Weigh the mushrooms. Begin by weighing the ground Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms. Ensure they are finely ground to facilitate effective extraction.

  2. Mix with lemon juice. Combine the ground mushrooms with freshly squeezed lemon juice. Let this mixture soak for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Add hot water. After the soaking period, add a small amount of freshly boiled water to the mushroom mixture. Allow this to steep for approximately 5 minutes.

  4. Prepare tea. While the mushroom mixture rests, brew half a cup of your preferred tea and sweeten it with your sweetener of choice. Ginger tea is an excellent choice due to its nausea-alleviating properties and flavour compatibility with lemon.

  5. Combine and consume. Pour the mushroom mixture into the prepared tea, using a strainer to remove any larger mushroom pieces. Stir thoroughly to ensure an even blend. This final concoction is your magic mushroom tea, ready to be consumed.

  6. Perform a second extraction (optional). Should you wish to do a second extraction, add freshly boiled water to the used mushrooms. Let this steep for an additional 5 minutes. Then, blend this second extract with more tea.

Bon voyage!
