Today marks the 81st anniversary of Bicycle Day.
On this day in 1943, Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann embarked on the world’s first intentional LSD trip. He cycled home as the effects took hold.
His discovery opened the doors to the scientific study of psychedelics. It also led to the reintroduction of substances like psilocybin into Western consciousness.
